Bomb Explosion Kills JTF Soldiers in Maiduguri, Damaturu
A bomb explosion in Maiduguri, Borno state capital, targeted at patrol team of the military Joint Task Force (JTF) has left a number of soldiers dead. The explosion which occurred around the Gamboru area of the metropolis was said to have killed and injured a number of soldiers in the patrol team even as residents were thrown into panic.
The attack on the JTF in Maiduguri came less than two hours after a military officer who worked in the intelligence arm of the JTF in Damaturu, Yobe state was gunned down by another set of armed men who laid ambush for him along the Potiskum road where he had gone to fix his car in a mechanic workshop.
The two attacks on the JTF men were said to have been carried out by suspected Boko Haram militants. The killings have also created fresh fears among residents of both cities as angry JTF patrol men engaged in sporadic gunshots to register their displeasure over the killing of their colleagues.
