Military Airstrikes Kill 20 Civilians In Maiduguri Village, As Boko Haram Bombs Viewing Centre
About 20 civilians have reportedly died as a result of airs trikes by the Nigeria Military in Maiduguri on Saturday.
The air strikes was said to have occurred at Daglun village in Askira Uba when the men of the Nigeria Military targeted some Boko Haram members.
BBCAfrica through its twitter page announced the air strikes and the killing of the 20 civilians resulting from the strikes but said it was unconfirmed.
“Unconfirmed reports from #Nigeria say the military killed 20 civilians in an air strike on a village in Borno state targeting Boko Haram,” says BBC.
Else where in Maiduguri, two bomb planted by suspected Boko Haram members in a car close to a viewing centre where football fans were watching the English Premier League exploded killing many with many others left injured.
The blast occurred at about 6:15pm in an area called Ngomari in central Maiduguri.
Saturday’s bombing in the heart of Maiduguri which in recent times have enjoyed relative peace adds to a list of other deadly attacks the group has carried out in recent weeks.
It has recently scaled up its attacks on the northeast states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe, which are under emergency rule.
