Boko Haram Mass Graves, Weapons Stockpile Discovered in Borno
Parading newsmen around the scene of the its latest chilling discoveries in the eerie community of Bulabulin Nganaram in Borno state, said the graves looked to have been hurriedly dug, accounting for their shallow states.
“Between 3-8 July, 2013 the JTF dislodged Boko Haram terrorists from their main enclave in Bulabulin Nganaram, Aljajeri and Faluja areas of Maiduguri metropolis”, said JTF Spokesman, Col Sagir Musa.
“During the encounter, some terrorists were killed in the fire fight, including the main Amir of Bulabulin Nganaram (who was on the wanted list of the JTF with a 10 million naira bounty). He was responsible for the killing of a teacher and three students of Sanda Karami Secondary School, Ruwan Zafi Maiduguri. Many abducted women, girls and children were rescued and handed over to their families by the Task Force”, he continued.
A few meters away stood a giant bunker where the members of Boko Haram concealed a cache of weapons. The bunker was dug behind a two bedroom flat and residents who spoke to our reporter said they all thought it was an effluent stow-away.
According to the JTF, bodies of slain Boko Haram fighters and victims of their attacks were all stacked together in these mass graves.
“Troops also discovered vast network mouse-holes linking compounds and underground tunnels as well as bunkers under houses”, Colonel Musa shrugged, while adding that these tunnels served as escape routes for the terrorists.
The JTF also called on residents to be more helpful in relaying strange contraptions and movements within their neighbourhoods to the military authorities.
