Boko Haram Leader, Shekau Appears In New Video, Displays Assorted Weapons Seized From Nigerian Troops
Just as Nigeria’s security agencies rubbished a recent video by the leader of the dreaded Boko Harrm sect, Abubakar Shekau claiming that he is still alive and would only die when he is ordained by God to die, the leader of the sect has once again appeared in a new video, displaying assorted weapons which he claimed his fighters seized from the Nigerian troops during face-offs.
The Department of State Security Service yesterday said probing from the video does not correlate with previous video released by the sect leader in the past as some of the features contained in similar videos in the past was lacking in the current video.
But the re-appearance of the most wanted leader of the terrorist group in a fresh video brandishing weapons seized from Nigeria’s security agencies puts to question the claims by the SSS.
“The weapons are here for anyone doubting our capacity to see. We have snatched armoured tanks, Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs), Hilux 4 wheel trucks and assorted ammunitions, all from the Nigerian security forces who are claiming that that they have decimated us,” Shekau claimed.
The Boko Haram leader did not give details on the number of weapons allegedly snatched by his men, even as he boasted in the video that he is alive and commandeering the activities of his group, which he said is fighting for the entrenchment of Sharia system in Nigeria.
In the video footage, he was shown sitting alone in military fatigue, talking while the weapons are shown intermittently. Why justifying the group’s actions, Shekau quoted verses from the Holy Quran and the Hadith of the prophet.
“All gratitude goes to Almighty Allah, who accorded me the opportunity to extend this message to all the people in the world and specifically to those who call themselves Nigerians,” he said.
“We have waged war against the unbelievers and emerged victorious. We have seized their weapons, so many of them. We would keep on fighting, no going back, no retreat and no surrender,” he said.
