Boko Haram Reportedly Gathering At A Village In Konduga In Preparation To Attack Maiduguri
Following their defeat by the Nigerian Army on Friday in Konduga, a town located 40 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Capital city of Borno State, Boko Haram insurgents are reportedly coming out en-mass from Sambisa forest in a bid to attack Maiduguri, Abusidiqu has learnt.
The sect members are said to be assembling at Maidurmari village in Konduga LGA of the state and are determined to capture the capital city before the Muslim Eid festival which comes up by 5th October.
It is believed that the insurgents would flow through Konduga and the Bama route towards Maiduguri. Hopefully, the Civilian-JTF and army are on the alert.
An earlier attempt by the sect to storm Maiduguri with the planned attack on Konduga before advancing towards the town was repelled by the army killing almost all the members of the group that went for the operation.
Incidentally, Abusidiqu reported 24 hours before the Konduga battle that the insurgents has moved infantry to Jere in preparation to attack Maiduguri.
But the army took the bull by the horn androuted the insurgents at Konduga before they could unleash their mayhem on innocent citizens.
It is also expected that the army will repeat similar feat in the quest by the militants to attack Maiduguri. The problem however is that the Alpha jet which helped the army to achieve success against the militants in Konduga is still missing.
Sources said the jet is the sole Alpha jet in the arsenal of the Nigerian Airforce used for aerial reconnaissance missions. Baring talk of conspiracy and sabotage, the sheer loss of this aircraft has put the forces in Borno in the blind and practically neutralized their advantage.
The Nigerian army despite billions of US dollars supposedly spent, has no current capacity or plan to conduct first strikes on the terrorists. They always waits for them to gather and then the army attempts to defend. This is due to poor equipment, wages and depleted morale, as thoroughly described in prior reports. We hope this will not be the case.
