Boko Haram Ambush Nigerian Troops in Adamawa, Kill Five Soldiers
Suspected members of the Boko Haram sect on Thursday ambushed a contingent of the Nigerian troops at Limankara village in Adamawa, killing at least five soldiers.
According to the report, a convoy of soldiers was on its way to Gwoza town which has recently been taken over by insurgents when it came under heavy fire at the border between Borno and Adamawa States.
“The soldiers from 234 Battalion in Mubi were taken unawares by the Boko Haram men who laid an ambush at a point between Limankara-Adamawa and Limankara-Gwoza and killed five soldiers, some of our villagers saw the corpses”, he said.
A resident of Limankara said he saw five corpses of soldiers after the encounter that lasted a few hours with the insurgents overpowering the military personnel who later retreated.
