Benue Lawmakers Engage In Free For All Fight (VIDEO)
It was a free for all at the Benue State House of Assembly chambers between members of the All Progressives Congress and the People’s Democratic Party following a letter addressed to the Speaker by members of the APC to appoint majority leader for the Assembly.
The APC is in majority after it claimed a lawmaker of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) defected into its fold, which gave it a marginal lead over the PDP.
The lawmaker in the eye of the storm, Mr Nick Eworo, hinged his defection on his expulsion from the PDP at the local government level.
The APC thereby appointed the member representing Makurdi South State Constituency, Mr. Benjamin Adanyi, as Majority Leader; Nick Eworo, representing Obi State Constituency as Deputy Majority Leader while the member representing, Vandeikya, Titus Uba, as Chief Whip of the House.
The PDP lawmakers quickly arrested the reading of the letter via a motion to declare the seat of Mr Eworo vacant in line with Section 190 of the 1999 constitution.
