Belgore Gives Buhari Seven Days to Apologise Over Allegation of Disrupting PVC Distribution Exercise
A former governorship candidate under the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in Kwara State, Mohammed Dele Belgore has given spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state, Sulyman Buhari, seven days over an attack on his person.
Mr. Buhari had in a statement signed on behalf of his party, the APC accused Belgore of involvement in the disruption of PVCs distribution exercise in Kwara State, which he said was accompanied with brutal attacks on INEC agent and APC members on Friday at Ilorin.
The APC said “Mr Belgore’s reckless, coated with obvious lies and irresponsible press statement is a failed attempt to mislead the public on the unfortunate incident”.
Responding, Belgore in a statement by his media aide, Rafiu Ajakaye described the accusation as reckless, wicked and a baselessly malicious allegations against.
He dismissed all the allegations in the said statement as untrue, malicious and targeted at the hard-earned reputation of the senior advocate.
“We note that this statement is a deliberate act of character assassination as it ignored our earlier statement dissociating M.D. Belgore SAN from such indecent and unlawful conduct, Ajakaye said.
“We therefore demand Mr Buhari and his party to immediately withdraw/retract this statement and tender an unreserved apology within seven days from today or face a legal action.”
“We are aware that Mr Buhari and his ilk believe ‘all is fair’ in politics including recklessly damaging people’s reputation as he has done in his statement today. We do not see politics in this way and would therefore not watch while they unfairly impugn the integrity of the innocent. Again, Mr Buhari has seven days to retract his statement and tender an apology!”
