Bamanga Tukur Sponsors Rebellion Against North-West Governors…Moves To Suspend Party’s Zonal Chairman
For daring to express support for six PDP governors in the North West zone of the country, national chairman of the party, Bamanga Tukur has gathered some party leaders in the geo-political zone to move against their governors especially those against his leadership of the party.
Out of the seven states in the zone, only Zamfara is controlled by the ANPP while of the six others controlled by the PDP. They include Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa states. Of these, only the governors in Katsina and Kaduna are with Tukur while the others are opposed to his leadership of the party. As a result, the party’s national zonal chairman for the North West, Amb. Musa Kazaure has been speaking in condemnation of the recent suspension of the Sokoto state governor, berating Tukur for his style of leadership.
In a bid to get back at Kazaure and the governors, Tukur got some party officers from the zone to write a petition against Kazaure with the aim of suspending the party’s zonal chairman. A copy of the petition which was generated in Tukur’s office in Abuja was equally circulated to the media today by one of Tukur’s aides. The petition obtained in Abuja reads:
“The Stake-Holders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the North-West Zone has called for the immediate suspension or dismissal of the Zonal Chairman of the Party, Ambassador Ibrahim Musa Kazaure from the Party for glaring Anti-Party activities.
They said that the Chairman has by his utterances and actions engaged in subversive activities which are inimical to the progress and existence of the Party in the North-West zone.
In a petition addressed to the National Chairman of the Party and the National Working Committee signed by 14 members of the Zone with 2 representing each State within the seven (7) States of the Zone, the petitioners expressed surprise that the National Leadership of the Party has not taken any action against the Chairman up till this moment.
They said that the Chairman in different public and Press interviews had condemned the PDP as a Party while urging her members in the Zone not to recognize and respect the National Leadership of the Party.
The petitioner said that members of the Zonal Executive of the Party were now tired of the Chairman’s antics and that majority of them have lost confidence in his Leadership.
They stated that the Chairman, Ambassador Kazaure never catered for the Executive Members of the Zone as the Zonal office is underfunded having been putting his personal interest against that of the Zonal Executives.
In the petition, they further accused the Chairman of benefitting personally from contract awards by the Governors and that this is one of the reasons why he has decided to fight the National Leadership of the Party over the recent suspension of Governor Wammako of Sokoto.
They claimed that the support by the zonal Chairman also for the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi from the Party is viewed by the zonal Executives as unilateral, unwarranted and disrespectful to the Party, the National Working Committee and the National Chairman as non of the Party’s zonal Executives was intimated of the so called support or was there any meeting of the zonal Executives called to discuss the issue.
In the Petition, they further accused the Chairman of violating several provisions of the PDP constitution 2012 (as amended) especially article 58 (1) h.
The Chairman was said to have refused the Executives from having access to their elected officials including Governors from the zone as he prefers personal visits to them alone. He is also accused of causing disaffection among the Executive Members through his divide and rule policy while engaging in Press interviews/briefings that are prejudicial to the Party’s interest.
The Chairman is said to have thrown to the dustbin issues of Party discipline and guiding principles of Internal Democracy of Fairness to all while running the Party as a Sole Administrator.
They therefore urge the National Chairman Alhaji (Dr) Bamanga Tukur and the National Working Committee to take immediate disciplinary actions against the zonal Chairman of the North-West of the party Ambassador Ibrahim Musa Kazaure as a deterrent to other Zonal Chairmen and members.
