Austin Okafor, Police Inspector Of Crime At Garki Division Accused Of Bias, Harassment, Intimidation
The Inspector in charge of crime at the Garki Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Mr. Austin Okafor has been accused of bias, harassment, intimidation and abuse of office by some residents of Garki in the Federal Capital territory.
The residents in a petition to the Inspector General of Police by their legal counsel said Mr. Okafor, acting on the prompting of a complainant arrested one John Ibrahim, who is the security man of their residence located at plot 665, Jere street, Abuja.
The petitioners, who accused Okafor of locking up Ibrahim for several hours without obtaining his statement, interfered and dictated the statement Ibrahim wrote when he eventually allowed him to following threat of legal actions against him.
Describing the actions of the police inspector as an abuse of office capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigerian Police, the petitions appealed to the IGP to use his good office to investigate the act and bring the culprit to book.
