To meet up with the established time line of bringing to a successful conclusion the fight against terrorism and insurgency, the Nigerian Army has appointed a new Commander for OPERATION LAFIYA DOLE. He is Major General Yusha’u Mahmood Abubakar.
A statement by the Acting Director Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman said the appointment is with immediate effect.
Until this appointment, he was the Commander of Nigerian Army Armoured Corps. Although it is a unified command coordinating 3 and 7 Divisions of the Nigerian Army as well as other elements of Operation LAFIYA DOLE.
“one important point to also note is that this is the first time the Nigerian Army in its history is deploying Corps Headquarters in the field,” Usman said.
