Archbishop Queries Buhari’s Condemnation of Boko Haram
The Catholic Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Dr. Anthony J. V. Obinna, has described the recent outburst of General Muhammadu Buhari on the abduction of students of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, by Islamic fundamentalists, Boko Haram, as “completely belated”.
Archbishop Obinna made his feelings known while preaching the sermon during the dedication of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish, Emekuku, Owerri North local council area of Imo State.
It was the considered opinion of the fiery Catholic cleric that the former military ruler possibly reacted because well meaning people of the world, including the leadership of Organization of Islamic Countries, OIC, have risen in condemnation of the dastardly acts of the insurgents.
He queried why Buhari wasted so much time before condemning the sordid activities of the Islamic fundamentalists and wondered if his current comment would not be safely linked with his touted aspiration in the forthcoming general elections.
Obinna pleaded with the citizenry to vote wisely during the 2015 general elections, as well as avoid the dreaded sect like a plague.
