APC Youth Wing: Statement On the Kano Bomb Blast
In Nigeria today, we have become so accustomed to terrorism that we are no longer shocked when our collective enemies strike. In some Northern states, bomb blasts have become rather commonplace and the common man has been given the impression that life holds little or no value.
We are tired of hearing the President issue nothing other than condolence messages; with the alarming rate at which security is deteriorating, he might as well add a Special Adviser on Condolence Messages to his long list of insensitive, ill-mannered, and falsehood-dispensing aides. What we need now aren’t mere words, but decisive action to end these hideous and inhuman acts.
We have all suffered casualties, and nobody deserves to be made to suffer for the actions of a few. Our heats go out to the victims of this attack. May God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss. We will, however, not simply rest our oars and twiddle our thumbs until another unfortunate incident occurs and we have to issue another statement; we will, instead, work towards ensuring that the kind of leader who would put the safety of Nigerians first is elected in the nearest future.
We also hereby appeal to every Nigerian to be security conscious, and to report any and every suspicious activity to the relevant authorities. We must not give them the opportunity to use negligence on our part as an excuse.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
