Leaders and supporters of the All Progressive Congress, APC Thursday converged on the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to protest the November 16 governosrship election in Anambra state.
The large crowd of protesters had earlier gathered at the Newly opened Secretariat of the party located at Blantyre street in Wuse 2, from where the protest kicked off with a motorcade which passed through Ademola Adetokumbo way to INEC office.
Some of the leaders of the party including its Interim National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari and former Governor Bola Tinubu as well as Chief Ogbonnaya Onu rode on an open truck from the party secretariat to INEC office.
At the INEC office, the protester met a detachment of policemen and soldiers who prevented the motorcade from gaining access to the premises of the electoral body.
Speaking during the protest, National Chairman of the Party, Chief Bisi Akande said the party has come to the INEC office to protest the November 16 Governorship election in Anambra state and to submit a letter of protest to the commission.
In the same vein, former Head of state, General Muhammadu said the party has simply come to INEC to call for the total cancellation of the election.
In his own remark, former Governor Ahmed Tinubu said the Professor Jega led administration of INEC has proven to be incompetent to conduct elections in Nigeria.
He said the party has tolerated the fraud perpetrated by the electoral body in the country and said it reject the sham called election in Anambra as well as the Delta Central Senatorial election.
While the speeches by the party leaders were ongoing, protesters were busy chanting anti-INEC and anti-police protest, just as the police were busy pushing them from getting close to the office of the electoral commission.
