APC Proposes Logo with ACN “Broom” Symbol
The new coalition of four opposition parties, All Progressives Congress, APC has proposed a logo with the ACN broom symbol as its main features which will be placed at the centre (white) of the logo which has a green-white-blue background.
A source in one of the committees said the retention of the ACN symbol of broom as part of APC logo was hotly debated as some argued that it would create the impression that ACN is dominating the other parties in the merger arrangement.
It was further learnt that those who favour the inclusion of the broom were of the view that it is generally more acceptable than ANPP’s maize and CPC’s pen.
The party logo is expected to be unveiled on Wednesday, barring any last minute change in a meeting of the 11 APC governors which is expected to hold with members of three committees earlier set up by the party. The meeting of the governors with members of the committees is to harmonise the view of the various committees.
Recall that the proposed party had set up three committees, two weeks ago, to draft its manifesto and constitution as part of its preparation to apply to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for registration.
The committees, which comprise 20-members each, will turn in their reports on Wednesday to the main Joint Inter-Party Merger Committee.
Governors expected at the meeting are Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Ibikunle Amosu (Ogun), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo) and Adams Oshiomhole (Edo), all of ACN.
The ANPP governors expected to attend the meeting are Ibrahim Gaidam (Yobe), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar (Zamfara). Others are Tanko Al-Makura of CPC and Rochas Okorocha of APGA.
