APC Loses Party Executives to PDP in Borno State
At least three members of the State Executive Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Borno state has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The three members who recently announced their decampment to the PDP include state Secretary of the party, Hon. Bello Ayuba, the Zonal Executive Member, Barrister Isa Modu Chul as well as the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Making Zarami.
It was also learnt that some other members of the APC have defected to the PDP, while some of the former Commissioners and Special Advisers who were recently relieved of their appointment by Governor Kashim Shettima are also warming up to join the former state governor, Modu Sheriff to seek their political ambition as efforts to get a place in the APC as potential aspirants appears to have failed.
It was gathered that the recent sack of the commissioners and Special Advisers who the governor suspected of being loyal to his Sheriff has threatened the stability of APC in the state, having resolved to appoint new set of people in his cabinet.
“The rumour in Maiduguri now is that Sheriff’s plan is gradually reducing the ruling APC under Governor Kashim Shettima to nothing. It has been on record that, Sheriff made Kashim but Kashim was planning to smear Sheriff before the plan hit the rocks and now, this war has continued to breed tension and doubt among the duo, creating serious rivalry that has turned Borno politics into what many have described as a crack. Report however says such could lead to divide and rule affair between the former and present governors.” Goni Malami, a stakeholder in APC said.
