APC to Jega: Thank You for Exposing How PDP Attempted to Rig the Osun Election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State of Osun has thanked the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru Jega for his revelation on how the August 9 Osun election was almost rigged by a group of people he could not identify.
A statement by its director of publicity, research and strategy, Barrister Kunle Oyatomi stated that Jega made sufficient inference to confirm what APC had known all along that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had a master plan to hack into INEC’s database and corrupt the electoral register in order to disenfranchise thousands of voters.
He said that APC made the information public on several occasions, weeks before the election, adding that only few people believed them. He claimed that “this was the reason they were buying up permanent voter cards”.
“We had also informed the public that the PDP was planning to abuse and misuse the security personnel to terrorise, arrest and harass APC supporters and leaders before the election.
“Jega has now told us that they even went beyond arresting APC leaders and supporters; they locked up, in their overzealousness, some INEC ad hoc workers”.
