Any PDP Member Found Guilty Of Corruption Deserves Punishment – Kashamu
The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Senator Buruji Kashamu, on Sunday, said any member of the party found guilty of corruption should be punished for the offence.
Kashamu, who is the senator representing Ogun East in the National Assembly, said this during an empowerment ?programme organised by the Omo Ilu Foundation.
He said: “I am a PDP loyalist to the core. I love my party and the party is not involved in corruption. The party is like any other party. It does not mean that because it was PDP that produced the past executive at the centre, it should now be held responsibe for whatever action or inaction of the people in that government.
“PDP is a good party. Anyone that is involved in corruption should face the music. The party has nothing to do with that. PDP’s integrity still stands.”
He commended Preseident Muhammadu Buhari for tackling the problem of corruption in the country, calling on Nigerians to support the move for a greater country.
Asked to comment on the forthcoming congresses of the party in the state, Kashamu urged members to vote for credible leaders while ruling out the idea of harmonisation and reconciliation of different groups within the party.
The lawmaker admitted that there were different groups such as Dimeji Bankole Movement, Gbenga Daniel group, Ladi Adebutu group, among others, within the party, calling on each group to embark on massive mobilisation and sensitisation of their members ahead of the congresses.
Kashamu said he would not be a party to any form of manipulation during the congresses, which would hold in wards, local government and state levels.
