An Open Letter To Nasir El Rufai- By Adedayo Osho
If indeed Kaduna state first citizen, Nasir El Rufai possess 90 billion in his account and owns 40 houses, it calls for one to be intellectually provoked if this promised Change is realisable. Alas, his style of governance: first on pay-cut for political office holders, injecting competent hands in government and judicious management of available resources renders lately allegation of the “Accidental Public Servant” on pursuit of anti-masses policy or pocket politics as mischievous.
Preparatory to 2015 general election, I indicated in a January article, that genuine agents of change do not necessarily need battalion of political jobbers to achieve success. A true friend of the masses must be ready to render selfless service if in honesty s/he is on rescue mission. The well being of the common man should be prime priority for governmental decision-makers in 21st Century democracy. It is commendable to note that a critique of El Rufai’s one month in office makes one undoubtedly agree that he has chosen to thread the path of pro-masses agenda.
In light of this accusation, Governor Nasir El Rufai should come out openly to clarify his stance on this hullabaloo. Much as we are not against wealth accumulation since ours is a capitalist democracy- an exploitative economic model long due for socialist enthronement. Our voiceless hoi polloi in Zaria, Sabon Gari, Birnin Gwari, Jaji, Kafanchan and entirety of Kaduna state needs explanation on how you acquire such largesse. Since religion is the opium of the masses, they in like manner are easily given to instantly assume non-verified informations as profuse truth. Clarification on matter at hand and if found not guilty has the potential to earn you more supporters in the Liberal state.
To unrepentant rumour peddlers, bear in mind: the earlier career liars; paid propangandists; fifth-columnists and mischief-makers deviate from trading in the dangerous currency of circulating baseless and unfound and fabricated false information, the swifter Change is likely to translate into social enhancement of our suffering masses. But knowing fully well that Nigerian politicians are a product of recycled state looters reflecting on circumference of every regime in power. One will be appear gullible in defense of the indefensible.
It is the height of national retrogression for so-called literates to pass unverified informations bent on heating up the polity.
