Amaechi Postpones NGF Meeting to Enable Governors Attend Jonathan’s Dinner
The meeting of the Governor Amaechi led faction of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum scheduled to take place Wednesday at 8pm has been postponed by the Chairman of the Forum to enable governors attend the dinner meeting of governors arranged by President Goodluck Jonathan.
The President had shortly after Rotimi Amaechi sent invitation to all the 36 state governors to attend the NGF meeting fixed an emergency dinner meeting with all governors to hold at the same time the Governors Forum Meeting is scheduled to hold.
Feelers are that the President quickly arranged the dinner meeting with the governors to prevent them from attending Rotimi Amaechi’s meeting, but Amaechi in a show of respect for the office of the President postponed the meeting to enable the governors participate at the President’s dinner meeting.
A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “The NGF members are of the opinion that the Office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria should be respected . We have decided to defer to this office and postpone our meeting tonight. “Since we are in the majority, if we go ahead with the NGF meeting, we will be ridiculing the Office of the President. We are not at war with Jonathan, we want to prove to him that the NGF battle is not personal, it is about the sanctity of the ballot and democracy.”
