AGF Directs Adamawa Chief Judge to Immediately Swear-In Nyako’s Deputy, James Ngilari
Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke has ordered the immediate swearing-in of Bala Ngilari, the ousted Deputy Governor under the reign of Murtala Nyako.
The AGF in a press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Adedeji Ajibade said the directive followed the ruling of an Abuja High Court which ordered the removal of the Acting Governor, Umar Fintiri.
The court ordered that the ousted Deputy Governor of Murtala Nyako be made to complete the deposed governor’s tenure and also restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from going ahead with Saturday’s governorship bye election in Adamawa state.
The statement issued shortly after the court ruling on Wednesday said the directive giving the order to immediately swear-in James Ngilari is also to avert vacuum in governance and possible constitutional crisis.
The AGF also asked the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to keep in abeyance, all the arrangements made for the conduct of the bye-election scheduled to take place on October 11.
