Again, Senate Defers Amaechi, Shittu’s Screening To Tuesday
The Senate Thursday deferred the screening of former governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi as a ministerial nominees to next week Tuesday.
Also affected in the postponement is a former Commissioner in Oyo state, Mr. Adebayo Shittu.
This will be the second time the Senate will postponse the screening of Amaechi.
At the close of plenary on Wednesday, it was announced that Mr. Amaechi and Mr. Shittu would be screened today.
But, Senate at resumption of plenary on Thursday postponed further screening of ministerial nominees till next week.
Already, 18 nominees were confirmed as ministers having been screened in batches of 10 and eight on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
As at press time, it could not be ascertained why the screening of Mr. Amaechi and Mr. Shittu, is being deferred again.
It would be recaalled that the petition against Mr. Amaechi bordering on corruption had been dismissed by the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges because the case is still in court.
Also, the 16 nominees on the second batch list would be screened on Tuesday.
