Adamawa Guber: I Can Never Step Down For Ribadu, Bamanga Tukur’s Son Vows
Awwal, the son of former National Chairman of the PDP, Bamanga Tukur, today put a lie to news report that he has stepped down for former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu in the race for the Adamawa state governorship bye-election which INEC has now fixed to hold on October 11.
Tukur, who declared his position at a press conference in Yola today said he can never step down his ambition for someone in another political party adding that Ribadu remains a top chieftain of the main opposition party, APC while he is pursuing his ambition on the platform of the PDP. iReports-ng.com had yesterday exclusively reported a meeting between Ribadu and Tukur where the latter was asked to step down for the former, an offer he rejected. We had also reported that Ribadu had concluded plans to defect to the PDP on Thursday or Friday after doling out millions of naira to some party chieftains to pave the way for his defection.
“When I saw a story published in the media (Abuja based Leadership newspaper),claiming that I have stepped down for Nuhu due to the meeting we had in Abuja I was surprised. The story is unfounded. I have not withdrawn and I am planning to declare my intention to contest for the party primary in the upcoming bye election.” he said
While adding his voice to the stiff opposition to attempts by some forces to bribe PDP stakeholders and buy the party’s guber ticket for Ribadu, Tukur vowed that the PDP stakeholders in the state would not allow any imposition of candidate in the bye election saying that though the door of the party is open for any interested candidate who wants to join the fold to do so in line with the party constitution, he warned that ”Adamawa of today is not like that of yesterday, our patience should not be taken for granted and our prayer is that the issue of imposition should not arise”
