Abia Assembly Demands Release Of Senator Abaribe
The Abia State House of Assembly has called for the unconditional release of the senator representing Abia South Zone in the National Assembly, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe who was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS in Abuja.
The house also condemned the continued detention of the senator and urged the federal government to obey section 35 subsection 4 and 5 of the constitution.
It further resolved that the recent harassment and arrest of lawmakers by security operatives should be stopped noting that due process must be followed to strengthen the country’s democracy.
Speaking earlier on a matter of urgent public importance, the member representing Obingwa West State Constituency, Thomas Nkoro pointed out that no reason had been given for the arrest of the senator last week.
