Following the withdrawal of his security details of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal after his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the All Progressives Congress (APC), no less than 60 members of the House from his now reportedly move around with him to serve as security.
Sunday Pucch reported that the 60 Reps have been accompanying Tambuwal around Abuja to protect him against potential security threats. They drive along with him in a motorcade, and also form a shield around Tambuwal to protect him.
“We all went with him to the (Federal High) court today (Friday) to challenge the withdrawal of his security personnel.”
Ali, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Justice, said the members would do everything within their power to protect Tambuwal.
Tambuwal and the APC have since defended his defection, claiming that the PDP had factions, in addition to arguing that the courts have yet to resolve pending cases on defection before them.
It was also learnt that the speaker and his loyalists were working to ensure that the alleged plot by the Presidency and the PDP caucus to reconvene the House before December 3 is frustrated.
