30 Boko Haram Insurgents Killed In Fresh Attack, As Troops Recover Foreign Currency, Arms, Others
The Nigerian military says its troops have killed no fewer that 30 terrorists and recovered thousands of Euro currency following an encounter at the border area of Mafa, Borno state.
A senior commander also known as an Amir within the Boko Haram circle was killed in the attack. Believed to be of foreign descent, the insurgent leader was among about 30 Boko Haram fighters who died in the encounter while many others fled with wounds in an attack in Dikwa on Saturday.
A Statement by Director Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade says the terrorists also lost a number of weapons and equipment including 13 rifles, a machine gun, rocket propelled grenade tubes and several other assorted ammunition.
Other items recovered included a Toyota Buffalo vehicle while two of their armored vehicles were destroyed in the battle. The statement added that the military only had one of its equipment damaged in the operations.
