2019: PDP Must Present Best Candidates To Wrest Power From APC – Makarfi
Former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, has cautioned the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to ensure it present its best candidates to wrest power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the PDP, spoke in Asaba, the Delta State capital when he met with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and possible delegates to the PDP National Convention billed to hold in Abuja next month.
Makarfi, who is seeking the PDP presidential ticket for the second time, noted that aside from restructuring the country and tackling insecurity, his administration would equally tackle unemployment and poverty which the President Muhammadu Buhari-led APC government had inflicted on Nigerians.
He added that he was confident that the PDP would present a credible candidate that all the stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders and all classes of citizens, could feel comfortable with when voted into office.
`Okowa, in his response, said, “We have so many good materials in the PDP, and the least we can do is to ensure a free and fair primary at the national convention. But I will maintain my neutrality in the best interest of the party. The delegates have listened to you, and I believe that they will make the right choice at the appropriate time.”
