2019: Akpabio Denies Defection Rumour To APC
Former Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, and Senate minority leader, Godswill Akpabio, has denied rumours that he plans to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at the senatorial district end of year get-together on Sunday in Abak, Akpabio, said: “all this rumour that Akpabio is going to APC is a mere rumour.”
According to him, he has no intention to control the state as he had finished his two tenures and left.
“All is not well; don’t allow people to tell you that all is well. All is not well. You have mentioned a hotel in Ikot Ekpene. If it is allowed to rust, is that a good thing. What of the road from Uyo to Ikot Ekpene? At least one lane should been completed.
“Let me ask; for the 2018 budget, what is the percentage for Ikot Ekpene senatorial district? I don’t have any aspiration to control a state. I had finished my two terms and left. So, my job is to tell the truth; because if at this age I am not telling the truth, automatically, I am not leading you well,” Akpabio said.
He urged the Deputy Governor, Moses Ekpo and other political office holders from the senatorial district to bring development back to their people.
