2015: Tambuwal in Closed Door Meeting with Obasanjo
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Waziri Tambuwal today held a close door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his hill top residence in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital today.
Though, both leaders refused to speak on the meeting, it was gathered that it bordered on the state of the nation and preparations towards choosing a president that will be acceptable to the whole country in 2015.
However, his media aide, Mr. Imam Imam, said Tambuwal and Obasanjo only rubbed minds on the state of the nation and how to move it forward.
He said, “You know Baba is father to all in the country. The visit was a consultation. It is about rubbing minds on how to move the country forward and make Nigeria better.”
Asked whether the visit was in connection with Tambuwal’s rumoured presidential ambition in 2015, Imam said he could not confirm that because it was a closed door meeting between Tambuwal and Obasanjo.
He said, “I can’t say anything on that because it was a closed door meeting. About the presidential ambition, that also I cannot comment on. Let’s wait till 2015 and then we will address that.”
Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Hon Kawu Sumaila was said to have accompanied the Speaker on the visit to Obasanjo. The former president has opposed the bid by President Goodluck Jonathan to run for another term in office and this has created a gulf between the two leaders.
