The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State has dismissed the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state as a weak opposition party in disarray.
In a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the APC said, “the boisterous and violent opposition PDP is a weak contender in the 2015 general elections that will suffer defeat in all elective positions in Kwara State”.
“The PDP in Kwara State is so clueless that it recently flaunted its claim that 170 aspirants are jostling for 34 positions under its leaking umbrella as its main achievement. It is needless to note that imposition of party executives has destroyed the PDP in Ilorin West local government and the brewing crises in the PDP would wholly sink the PDP soon. Evidently, the PDP lacks the competent leadership to settle its crises in Ilorin West LG and other pockets of crises all across the state. The 170 aspirants will be PDP’s albatross in the run-up to 2015 general elections. Kwara PDP is a disaster waiting to happen.
“This is the same party whose Minister, in a sheer display of ignorance and confusion, made failed attempt to blame Kwara State government and the APC for the condemnable neglect of federal infrastructure at Ajase-ipo/Offa axis by the PDP-led federal government.
Instead of apologising to the good people of Kwara State for the incompetence of the PDP-led federal government, Mr Minister decided to blame everyone except himself and the FG for the glaring failure of the government he serves. This is the height of cluelessness.
“Kwarans are not fools, they know the PDP too well. The 2015 general election is drawing closer. Nocturnal politicians and political contractors who left Kwara State immediately after the 2011 general elections have started visiting our dear state. One of these political contractors in the PDP have started a familiarization tour across the state. This political desperado has been making unguarded comments about our government and party. The questions Kwarans are asking are: if you truly know us as you have always claimed, why the need for familairization tour? Why have you not embarked on any familairization tour since you lost the 2011 election?
These political contractors believe Kwara State is their personal property to bargain for money and power every election season. They have no plans for Kwarans. They have made several failed attempts to incite Kwarans against the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led administration that has served them meritoriously since 2011.
Their ultimate plan is to stampede the level of sustainable peace and development Kwarans presently enjoy and to hijack power for their personal and selfish reasons. This gang up will not work. They have failed before, they will continue to fail.
“Meanwhile, the APC-led government in Kwara State has created a political environment that makes it conducive for healthy opposition parties to thrive.
“We must also express satisfaction that thuggery, bloodletting, violence and other criminal activities that the opposition PDP is renowned for, have reduced significantly in our dear Kwara State.”, the statement read.
