2015: Jonathan Moves to Capture South-West from ACN…Lists Influential Sons of the Region for Juicy Cabinet Appointment
In a desperate bid to crush the festering Bola Ahmed Tinubu political empire in the region as well as create the impression that he is a responsive president who has decided to act on the cries of marginalisation of the Yoruba by his regime, President Goodluck Jonathan has assembled a number of influential personalities in the south-west region for visible appointments in the federal cabinet and other strategic departments. This move impecable sources said is a calculated design by the tact team of the president to win support for his ambition to re-contest the 2015 presidential election.
Top on the list already drawn up for appointment include successful lawyer and former NBA president, Chief Wole Olanipekun who may replace controversial Attorney General Mohammed Bello Adoke who is not liked by Nigerians for his cossy relationship with the corrupt and use of his office to scuttle their criminal trials in court. Also on the list being kept secret is former external affairs minister, Prof Bolaji Akinyemi who may get posted as Nigeria’s permanent representative to the United Nations.
Another is former Democratic Peoples Alliance, DPA governorship candidate in Lagos state, Mr Jimi Agbaje who may get a strategic ministerial portfolio to position him and empower him as a likely governorship candidate to be fielded by the PDP in Lagos in 2015. Before now, Mr Agbaje has engaged in secret discussions with some PDP leaders on the possibility of decamping to the PDP.
In addition to this, Abusidiqu.com can also disclose that President Jonathan is concluding plans to create a minister of state portfolio in the Ministry of Petroleum and appoint a Yoruba man or woman to fill same.
