2015 Elections: South-South Leaders Endorsement of Jonathan, A Joke – Buhari
Former Head of State and Presidential Candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in the 2011 general elections, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) said on Monday that the adoption of President Goodluck Jonathan by some leaders of the South-South in the 2015 election is a joke which should not be taken serious.
Buhari spoke in his Kaduna residence when he received the party’s governorship candidate for the October 20 election in Ondo State, Prince Soji Ehinlanwo in the company of the CPC’s National Publicity Secretary, Rotimi Fashakin and other party officials.
“I don’t take the decision of South-south leaders seriously. South-south people said it is Jonathan or nothing, I know they are members of the Peoples Democratic Party, let them vote for him in a free and fair elections; let us see if they can give him the ticket against other geo-political zones. Let them give him the primary ticket first, let them vote for him when 2015 comes and let us see if he would win,” Buhari said.
The CPC chieftain also urged the elites to shun apathy in the interest of sustaining and stabilising the nation’s multi-party democracy, saying, “It is also up to the elites to participate and ensure that elections are free and fair.
