She was thrilled to be there to give her support to breast cancer awareness; and to Project Pink Blue for being passionate about free breast cancer screening. She commended the organization for advocating for this cause, educating other people to do the same and also screening over 600 women so far.
In commemoration of this year’s World Cancer Day, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Alhassan today joined female celebrities in Abuja for a Walk Against Cancer. The walk, organized by Project Pink Blue, was used as an opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer and it featured Nollywood star Annie Idibia, popular OAP Toke Makinwa and singer Chidinma Ekile among others. Senator Aisha Alhassan was at the walk in company of former Minister of State for Finance, Senator Nenadi Usman. She commended the celebrities for supporting the worthy cause and using their influence to raise awareness about breast cancer in Nigeria.
Mama Taraba also emphasized that women need to take advantage of free breast cancer screenings, because early dectection will prevent high mortality rate. During the press briefing, she encouraged other organizations to support cancer research and further awareness.
