We Have Discovered How INEC Rigged Ekiti Election – Gov Fayemi
Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has said that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has discovered how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) allegedly rigged the June 21 Governorship Election in the state.
Fayemi made the claim while featuring on the Yoruba Edition of the monthly progamme ‘Gomino S’alaye’ in Ado-Ekiti, according to report from Daily Independent.
The governor was not specific on the nature of fraud allegedly perpetrated by the commission, he however assured that all the dirty deals would be uncovered in no distant time.
“I want to say that we have discovered some fraud in the last election. But it is yet a matter for public consumption. This discovery had certainly gave us the hope that our party would win Osun election,” Fayemi stated.
Speaking on how the agitation for creation of additional local governments actually predated the creation of Ekiti State itself. Fayemi said: “Even when Ekiti was still part of the old Ondo State, many of our communities had pushed for either splitting or creation of additional local governments in their respective constituencies. What we have done so far followed due process,”
In what appeared to be his response to Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) which ordered his members to stay off new council areas, Fayemi said workers have no business in the process of creating new councils. He urged any worker who may wish to play politics to leave the Civil Service and face full time politics.
